Courtney DeAngelis, Psy.D.Dr. DeAngelis graduated magna cum laude with her BA degree in psychology from Muhlenberg College, and received her MA and PsyD degrees in clinical psychology from La Salle University. She completed her predoctoral internship at the Kennedy Krieger Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she served as a clinician in the Child and Family Therapy Clinic. Dr. DeAngelis then completed her postdoctoral fellowship at the Columbia University Clinic for Anxiety and Related Disorders-Westchester (CUCARD-W) to obtain more specialized training in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and OCD.

Dr. DeAngelis remained at CUCARD-W for eight years, where she became a Senior Psychologist and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at New York Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In addition to direct patient care, she supervised doctoral students and supported training efforts by guiding the psychiatry department in the organization of training, onboarding process, and review of clinical externships and postdoctoral fellowships. She also took lead in the development and launch of the psychiatry department’s continuing education programming, in line with her mission to disseminate research and clinical knowledge to improve clinical competencies and patient outcomes. Dr. DeAngelis has presented at national professional conferences, offered consultations to school districts in the management of anxiety, trauma, and school avoidance/refusal behaviors, and has conducted workshops for school and community providers. In her efforts to educate the public, she has completed interviews with various media outlets and provided webinars to parents. Dr. DeAngelis continues to serve as the chair of ABCT’s Continuing Education committee, where she contributes to the planning and development of webinars for their national CBT organization.
Dr. DeAngelis specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, young adults and adults with anxiety and mood disorders, OCD, body focused repetitive behaviors, and posttraumatic stress. Throughout her career, Dr. DeAngelis has received specialized training in the provision of several evidence-based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (EX/RP), functional family therapy (FFT), and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT). Dr. DeAngelis has also received specialized training in the treatment of complicated grief. She has gained extensive experience collaborating and consulting with schools, other disciplines, and outside professionals to address her patients’ emotional and behavioral challenges and help to evoke change.
