Individual therapy

I meet with children, teens, young adults, and adults who are experiencing generalized anxiety, social anxiety, separation anxiety, phobias, selective mutism, body focused repetitive behaviors (e.g. skin picking, hair pulling) sport performance anxiety, school avoidance, and OCD. I also have expertise in treating posttraumatic stress, bereavement, and complicated grief.  Depending on the age of your child, I generally ask that parents participate actively in treatment to help to reinforce coping skills, and to increase the chances that your child meets goals that we have set.

Parent support

I work with parents of young children, adolescents, and young adults to identify changes that can be made at home to increase the likelihood that your child practices coping strategies that are taught in therapy, and reduce accommodations of anxiety. Parental accommodations of anxiety often inadvertently strengthen avoidance behaviors when faced with stressful situations. This may manifest as tantrums and refusal behaviors in young children, and I guide parents to identify novel ways to encourage their child to act brave even when they feel nervous. Parents of young adults may instead describe concerns for their child’s difficulties completing tasks of daily living independently in line with “failure to launch.” I offer support to parents around the use of validation, reinforcement, and contingencies, and collaboratively identify modifications to the home environment to scaffold demands and create clear expectations.

Accelerated outpatient therapy

There are some individuals who may benefit from meeting 2-3 times weekly to experience symptom relief faster. This may be recommended to those whose current symptoms are getting in the way of everyday life, such as in cases of moderate to severe OCD, school avoidance and refusal behaviors, and specific phobias. Some people may also request to meet at increased frequency during extended school breaks and summer, with the hope of meeting their exposure goals more quickly.

Clinical supervision and consultation

I am more than happy to discuss the possibility of providing clinical supervision to interested postdoctoral fellows who are looking to accrue licensure hours. I am also available to licensed providers and clinic teams who are seeking out supervision for complex cases in line with my clinical expertise (e.g. school avoidance/refusal, trauma, OCD), and/or hoping to receive additional training in the delivery of CBT, Ex/RP, and/or TF-CBT.

School and case consultation

I have experience consulting with schools to provide consultation for students with acute and chronic school avoidance/refusal behaviors, selective mutism, and complex trauma. I will provide recommendations on school based interventions, communication with administrators on students’ needs, and how to involve and motivate parents to more effectively meet students’ academic, social, and emotional needs.

Community education

I enjoy meeting with parents and families within the community who are looking to learn how to more effectively manage anxiety, and/or how to parent youth with anxiety. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you are hosting an event and are looking for a speaker!

Professional development workshops

I am available to provide training on the delivery of evidence based interventions when working with youth, such as CBT, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Trauma-Focused CBT. I can also tailor these talks for treatment with specific populations, such as school avoidant students or families struggling with OCD. In addition, I have extensive clinical experience preparing youth to manage anxiety surrounding day and sleep away camps, and have provided training to camp counselors as well.
Please refer to my CV if you are interested in viewing previous invited talks/presentations when generating ideas for topic areas.
